“In 1991 Dr Charlie Teo sent my family a Christmas card. He said to my parents, I wonder if Emma will remember me in 18 years’ time?
How could I ever forget him?!

When I was 4 years old Dr Charlie Teo operated on me. I thank you for removing the Astrocytoma Brain Tumour I had then. It reoccurred when I was 12 years old and was removed after 2 more operations from another neurosurgeon. I am now healthy and married with 3 healthy children of my own.

Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease, so I know I was one of the lucky ones.
After 3 operations and a few permanent side effects, I am so grateful that I am alive, and I am able to celebrate with my family 23 years brain cancer free.
I hope one day I can meet Charlie again but this time without cancer!”
